Quick answer

Reformer Pilates uses a spring-based moving carriage to make resistance and support adjustable for each movement.

Unlike a fixed routine, the equipment can be configured around your starting point. At Lyxaa, every regular Pilates session is private, so instruction, resistance and progression stay focused on you.

Why people choose it

Build the body you want to move through life in.

Pilates is not a shortcut or a cure-all. It is a precise, repeatable practice that helps you train with attention, useful resistance and a clearer sense of how your body moves.

01

Whole-body strength

Spring resistance creates controlled work through the legs, trunk, shoulders and arms without turning every session into a high-impact workout.

02

Mobility with control

Explore a useful range of movement while the carriage, straps and footbar provide feedback and adjustable support.

03

Posture awareness

Learn to notice alignment, breathing and control so you can carry a more considered sense of posture beyond the studio.

04

Movement confidence

Your instructor can change resistance, range, position and complexity gradually, helping unfamiliar movement become more assured.

Reformer Pilates equipment details, controlled movement and Cadillac tower setup

Equipment that makes the work adaptable.

The Reformer combines a sliding carriage, springs, straps and a footbar. The Cadillac adds a stable frame, bars and spring attachments. Together, they give an instructor more ways to adjust support, resistance and movement range.

The private difference

No room to follow.
One session to inhabit.

1:1 Instructor to participant

Private instruction makes the session quieter, more precise and easier to adapt. You are not competing for attention or matching someone else’s pace.

01

Setup is personal

Spring tension, footbar position, straps and starting range are adjusted for your body and experience.

02

Cues arrive when you need them

Your instructor can watch the movement, clarify the intent and change the exercise without holding up a class.

03

Progress is earned, not rushed

Complexity and resistance can increase as your control develops rather than according to a fixed group sequence.

04

The environment stays focused

Fewer distractions, no performance pressure and more space to understand unfamiliar equipment.

Questions, answered

Before your first session.

A concise guide to Reformer Pilates, private instruction and choosing the right starting point.

What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is performed on a spring-based moving carriage. Adjustable resistance and support make it possible to practise controlled strength, mobility, balance and body awareness across a wide range of starting levels.

Is it suitable for complete beginners?

Yes. A private session gives your instructor time to explain the equipment, select an appropriate resistance and introduce movements at your pace. No previous Pilates experience is required.

How is it different from mat Pilates?

Mat Pilates uses body weight and floor-based movement. A Reformer adds a moving carriage, springs, straps and a footbar, allowing resistance and support to be changed for each exercise.

Will every session be one-to-one?

Yes. Regular Pilates at Lyxaa is planned as a private 1:1 service rather than a group class.

How long does a session take?

Allow approximately 45 to 60 minutes, including equipment setup, guided movement and a brief review at the end.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable, fitted clothing that allows you to move freely and lets the instructor see your alignment.

Is this physiotherapy or injury rehabilitation?

No. Regular Pilates is exercise coaching. If you have pain, injury, recent surgery, pregnancy, postpartum needs or a health condition, seek healthcare advice first and consider Lyxaa’s clinical Pilates pathway.

Where will sessions take place?
