Legacy testing guide

One reading. Used carefully.

Epigenetic testing examines DNA methylation patterns and compares them with patterns seen across age groups. In Lyxaa's Legacy tier, it is a one-time first-year reading, not a score that is repeatedly chased.

In short

Legacy includes one epigenetic test in the first membership year. It is not repeated on renewal, is not used as a diagnosis and is not presented as a trackable measure of change.

Guide overview

Understand what the estimate is before deciding how much weight to give it.

Epigenetic clocks are statistical models. They are scientifically interesting, but different methods can produce different estimates and their personal clinical meaning remains limited.
Method

A model built from methylation patterns

The result is an estimate produced by a selected model, not a direct measure of one universal ageing state.

Programme use

One first-year Legacy reading

Lyxaa does not repeat it on renewal or use it as a score to chase across the membership.

Boundary

Not diagnosis or proof of reversal

Standard clinical assessment and the programme's scheduled panels remain more immediate decision inputs.

01

What epigenetic testing measures

The test reads selected DNA methylation patterns. Statistical models compare those patterns with reference data to produce an estimate.

The result is different from a genetic diagnosis. It does not rewrite your DNA, predict one exact future or replace standard clinical investigation.

02

Why Lyxaa treats it as one reading

Different epigenetic clocks use different methods and can produce different estimates. Personal interpretation also has limits.

For that reason, the Legacy inclusion is deliberately defined as one first-year reading. It is not sold as a number to improve and retest every year.

03

How it differs from microbiome testing

Testing layerWhen it happensHow it is used
Gut microbiomeAt the start of each membership yearA year-over-year comparison becomes possible from year two
EpigeneticOnce, in the first Legacy yearA single contextual reading, not a repeated trend
04

What it does not prove

  • It does not diagnose disease.
  • It does not prove that ageing has been reversed.
  • It does not replace the full panels or priority-marker checks.
  • It does not determine the programme by itself.
05

Where the practical work remains

The programme still rests on precision nutrition and functional training, supported by the scheduled clinical reviews. The epigenetic result is one additional layer at Legacy.

Your full panels, priority markers, symptoms, history and daily context remain more immediate inputs to decisions made across the year.

06

Why two reports may not match

Epigenetic clocks can use different methylation sites, reference groups, algorithms and sample methods. Two services may therefore produce different estimates without either number acting as one universal truth.

That variation is one reason to avoid comparing unrelated reports or treating a small numerical difference as a confirmed change in health.

07

How to read the result responsibly

  • Ask which model and sample method were used.
  • Separate an estimate from a diagnosis or prognosis.
  • Do not change treatment because of the result alone.
  • Keep the programme focus on scheduled clinical review, nutrition and functional training.

Common questions

Clear answers before you choose a next step.

Is epigenetic age the same as my actual age?

No. Chronological age is time since birth. An epigenetic estimate is produced by a statistical model using selected DNA methylation patterns and reference data.

Can the test prove that ageing has reversed?

No. A single estimate cannot prove that ageing has reversed, diagnose disease or predict one exact future.

Why is it not repeated every year?

Different clocks and technical methods have interpretation limits. Lyxaa therefore includes one first-year reading at Legacy rather than selling repeated testing as a validated personal trend.
